  • rssowl. one of the best rss readers. i've tried a lot, liferea, and quite a number of those gnome-based thingy. used bloglines but gotten sick of web-based application. and no thanks, google. rssowl is the shit.

  • amarok. sometime back i asked for a suggestions for good media player. the answer is amarok. even though it's for kde, it looks good on fluxbox (as long as you have kdelibs and qt emerged). on my pc (which uses gnome), it looks good as well. but the most important is not the looks - it's the wealth of functionalities that amarok has - much much easy to use than xmms or beep media player. the only downside is that it requires sqllite or mysql.

  • corkscrew. in my client's office, web access are proxied, and all other accesses are blocked. this means that i cannot check email, since i tunnel my pop and smtp via ssh. the solution: corkscrew. wonderful tool.

jam for the ladies

staying alone is kinda boring. especially in the evenings after work - most of the time i just stay in front of the computer and read news and books. or watch dvds if there are cool new flicks out. i;m not much into coding these days cause i'm doing it everyday for the last 2 months.

other than that, it is just plain boring. you don't really talk to people. and its an awkward-peaceful quite. weekends are more or less the same. i would just spend saturdays house cleaning - sweeping and mopping the floor and cleaning the toilet. i wished that i had rented a smaller place though. a 3-bedroom apartment for one person is, well, spacious.

on the other hand, staying alone means complete privacy, which is really really good. and that's the reason why i have been hesitant to rent out the other rooms.

man, i so wanna leave this country. i've been listening to the pixies for the past two weeks, over and over. it certainly indicates something is not quite right.
