it's only thursday only and i'm already freaking tired. the last three days was spent coding, one of the sux0riest job around. today was spent teaching penetration(!) testing course, which, unfortunately, is not what you dirty minded peeps think it was. today was theory related stuff, while tomorrow be spent doing some hands-on and more grope group activities. conveniently, one of my hard disks that contained several collection of vmware images (freebsd, gentoo, windows xp, windows 2000, windows nt, fedora core) which were mainly used for penetration testing practice decided to show me the middle finger and committed suicide.

sighs. so now i'm preparing a few images, and writing simple vulnerable web applications. oh the boringness.

i present, from the estate of spoonfork, queens of the stone age. nothing to blog at the moment. the usual stuff:

• i'm not sure if my friends understand, but running your own company, without any vulture funding or start-up capital is damn stressing. there are times when i just want to give up and live the good life (i.e getting some phat salary from some phat company) and smoke cigar and sip glenfiddich every friday night and work out some sexy birds)


• my only solace are, i guess, my friends and the never ending supply of music. luckily i have a diverse taste in music.


• so the other day i went to klcc to hang out at a client's premise. so i parked my car at the 10 bucks per entry parking near wisma sentral, under a tree. i thought the tree would give some shade to my otherwise poor old slk. it rained, heavily, for 10 minutes in the evening. when i got to the car, there was a treepart on the roof. so now my car roof is slightly dented. gah! well, at least it wasn't a WHOLE tree. or bird shit.


• i scored three excellent goals at futsal (compared to my normal five or seven goals), so the week was good.

• hip hop fashion. no one can tell that i'm a hip hop fan by the way i dress - which is good. i wanted a kangol tropic ventair so bad in college. i didn't. the only piece of hip hop fashion i have is a baggy pair of pants. but hip hop is not all about fashion. it's the attitude, yo.


• youth gangs and assumptions about culture. an essay about gang culture and hip hop. come to think of it, what are the roots of hip hop in malaysia? take for example too phat (respect to the eastside!), how do they come about being a hip hop act? or kru (kumpulan rap unggul?). is it poverty? oppression? gansterism? urban culture?


• blogs: can't stop won't stop, poplicks, hip hop music

and finally, a true story involving yours truly: back in college, there was a time when i went party hopping with a some friends (and their friends). only problem was, there weren't any happening parties around (i think it was close to midterm exams so parties were scarce). anyways, we ended up at a house, there was no liquor. so i went out with two white guys (friends of a friend) to get liquor. there was this guy, dressed in white pants, white shirt and white sweater, young and boyish looking with short blonde hair, whom was introduced to me as marshall. the other guy looked like some kind of a jockey, with adidas hat and adidas sweaters. for college guys - they were hip in the way they dress. dig this - the moment we were in the car, they were blasting gangsta rap. and not only that - they were rapping along as well! i could not remember who it was - it could be kool g rap - but i was amazed. two white guys - and they were rapping along, word for word, to some kick-ass gangsta rap shit.

that was the last time i hung out with them - they were from detroit or something. anyways, the last i heard, marshall changed his name to slim shady aka eminem, and went to become, well, you know who.
