Gnome and Spatial Nautilus - They Don't Like It
The first comment that I get after we migrated some 10 user's PC from Redhat 9.0 (with Gnome 2.2) to Gentoo Linux with Gnome 2.6 - the windows suck! Especially the spatial Nautilus. Everyone disliked it. Unfortunately, the users don't even know how to change the settings and edit the preferences. I don't blame them, because they were a group of Windows users who were made to use Linux overnight. I think the blame lies on part of the Gnome developers - first of all, the windows browser default behavior in 2.6 is spatial, where's it was browser like in previous version - which everyone was very comfortable with. Second of all - they don't make it easy to change the behavior of the browser. Edit->Preferences does not have anything to change this behavior. I was grossly surprised (I am a command line junkie and I never noticed this until my users asked). Having the preferences to choose between spatial nautilus and browser like NOT in the Edit->Preferences menu, in my humble opinion, is going against common sense and intuition. One has to go through the dreaded and cryptic Gconf Editor. Gah!!!!
Why can't they make it easier and more intuitive?
The Greeks deserves the improbable win last night against the (almost mighty) Portuguese. And I lost cough*some*cough*money to cough*some*one*cough after betting against Russia last night. Gah!!!!
