dude where's my blog?

this was one of the rarest mistakes i've ever made, but i accidently (due to my mad typing speed) dropped my entire wordpress database today. not that it matters much, but there goes my 4 years' worth of blog posts (1200+ in total, 2000+ comments), all gone. fortunately, i think i still have a backup (on my pentium-3 gentoo-powered server at biatch0's house) which contains all my posts up to four or six months ago. well, if i'm free, i'll archive them online. i might also figure out how to recover some of the posts from mysql's log files, but i'm not too keen to do so at the moment (lazy).

on another note, my blog moved hosting appoximately at midnight tonight. it is now hosted by takizo. thanks paul!

update: after tinkering with the innodb log files, i managed to restore the my data. unfortunately, the records are only up to the first month of january 2002. sighs. this sucks.

update: lol! i was just kidding! i managed to restore all of my posts including comments (and the spams). mysql is roxors! doing this is pretty much simple if you're using mysql with innodb. will do a write-up soon. the first few restorations failed simply because the last few lines of the log entry is drop database mel_blog. hence i had to edit a 362MB file (with over 3 million lines) which is not fun at all. the question now is - should i merge the posts with this 'new' blog, or should i just archive it online?
