freebsd <s>questions</s> is a marvellous piece of dog fart

dear geeks, a triple threat question:

• how do i list all the files that will be installed/required when installing a package in freebsd? in gentoo linux, i can do it by emerge -pv package_name.


• how do i install and download dependencies at the same time? for example, gaim requires several dependencies, and i want to save downloading/installing files by having them done in parallel (i.e. one process is doing the downloading, and another, the compiling)


• does anyone have any experience installing freebsd on a dell 700m notebook?

update: the answer to question 1 is make fetch-list or make pretty-print-run-depends-list. thanks rosli.

update: forget about those questions. i am done with freebsd, and will NEVER EVER again install it on desktops/notebooks. for an OS that claims to be bloody damn advanced, please explain why fluxbox crashes everytime i switch styles. heck, try explain why the kernel hanged when i unmount a vfat volume this evening. and explain the random kernel debug messages that appear on the console when i install a package. oh, don't bother because i don't want to know.
