i feel hip-hop

Dear Audiophiles,

I have some questions for ya'll:

  • What are the easiest, and the least effort-intensive ways to rip and encode audio CDs on Linux? I'm not talking about 50 CDs, but several hundreds.

  • What is the best application to do the above on Linux? Currently I am using sound-juicer.

  • Does it matter if I encode them to mp3 or ogg vorbis?

  • What are the best medium to store audio CDs? I'm am looking for something that protect the CDs from dust and damp.

  • What is the best app to use for managing my album collections? I am currently not using anything specific - just plain old beep media player


And finally, a question about hard drives:

  • Which brand and model of hard drives are best for storage? I don't want my hard drive full of albums go bonkers, yanno...

Answers to your questions:

1. Alphademon - bribe him well (booze and/or babes), he'll get it done.
2. Alphademon at the console.
3. Depends on the bitrate. Doesn't matter what Alphademon thinks.
4. Anywhere away from Alphademon.
5. Definitely not Alphademon.
6. Any one will do. Just make sure you change it every five years. Also, make sure Alphademon doesn't use it to stash his porn.

Sey: Grado's got headphones. I wasn't really looking for headphones, but now that you've mentioned it, I might test them out.

Grado is the headphone -- no point having all the music that sounds shitty through the speakers or earphones. Try out the Grado SR 80 and be blown away. Anyway music will sounds extraordinary good once you hear with a pair of Grado. :-D
